A Quick Note from 'Jesus Was A Democract'

We recently began working on this important project that we and others believe will soon become a national movement. In fact, we already have volunteers in many states, and we've just barely scratched the surface. Our objective is to create a civil and honest dialogue about the disparity between the politics of many American Christians and the teachings of Jesus. Our long-term goal is to affect electoral change in the U.S. in 2012 and beyond by shining a light on one of the greatest hypocrisies in politics today: the alignment of Christians and Christian organizations with the Republican Party, and now, the Tea Party.

Indeed, the Republican Party's alignment to Christianity.

As most of us are aware, the GOP is a party that concerns itself singularly with the welfare of the wealthy few and big corporations. At the same time, they fight against nearly all legislation that is consistent with the teachings of Jesus. For instance, programs that protect the working class, the poor and the elderly, progressive taxation, universal healthcare, death penalty reform, etc... are all opposed by the Republican party. We believe that at least some Christians are just unaware, afraid to speak up, or are just saying and doing as they were taught. More than ever, it's time to inform and empower them.

At the same time, we are also empowering liberal Christians to take back the mantle of morality from an ideology that practices an all too narrow conceptual definition. Liberal Christians in this country are hungry for a voice. Not that we are that voice, but we intend to loudly contribute to it.

To spread our message, we have a website,, a newsletter, and teams of JWAD Ambassadors throughout the country that will be holding events and spreading the word. In addition, we have merchandise for people to wear, ways to engage on Facebook, Twitter and online. Thanks!
